Jan 6 Hearings: Trump Put Election Officials Through Hell
Yesterday was day four of the January 6th hearings and the focus was on how Donald Trump pressured state-level officials to overturn the 2020 election results in his favor. There was testimony from three Republican election officials: Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, his Deputy Gabe Sterling, and Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers. All three men were pressured to do Trump’s bidding in what was possibly criminal influence by the former president. Perhaps the most emotional moment from the day was when Rusty Bowers testified to how his family regularly receives threats since he didn’t go along with Trump’s election lies. He now baselessly gets called a pedophile and constantly has to live in fear of being attacked. This undoubtedly was a predictable result of Trump’s election fraud lies as people who truly believe the election was stolen think they’re justified in going after the election officials that Trump put on his enemies list.
Uvalde Police DESPERATELY Trying to Cover Up Failures
The Uvalde Police Department has hired a private law firm to prevent the release of details to the public as to what exactly they were doing as a shooter was inside Robb Elementary School murdering 19 chidden and 2 teachers. The police are trying to shield records of body camera footage, photos, 911 calls, emails, and text messages. They argue the information should not be released due to pending litigation, because it would be “embarrassing” to the department, and because they don’t find it to be in the public’s interest. With all of the failures that took place on that day, and with how much the cops have changed their story, it’s clear that all of the information should be brought to light and they shouldn’t be able to get away with hiding it. The officers who refused to confront the shooter need to be held accountable by at the very least losing their jobs and possibly even by facing charges of child neglect.

Evangelicals Applaud Hershel Walker After Absentee Father Revelations
Republican Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker is dealing with a child abandonment scandal that came to light despite how Walker’s spoken endlessly on the campaign trail about how fathers need to do a better job of raising their children. One might think that Christian conservatives would hold the Senate candidate accountable for this hypocrisy, but since Herschel has said he’s going to try to do better, they’re apparently willing to forgive and applaud him over it. Walker spoke at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual gathering in Nashville, Tennessee over the weekend and he received a standing ovation from a room full of Republicans despite being embroiled in the controversy. As it turns out, the right either doesn’t care as much as they pretend to about this issue, or they believe people on their side of the political aisle should have an exception to it.
From yesterday’s show:
Republican Loses Ability to Speak When Confronted with Gun Polling
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) went on Fox News Sunday and he had a really difficult time answering a question about gun control. Fox host Shannon Bream brought up polling about how gun safety measures are hugely popular among the American people. A Fox survey she cited found 88% of Americans want background checks, 82% want the legal age to own an assault rifle to be 21, and 81% support red flag laws. Bream asked the senator whether him being against these basic measures makes him “out of touch” with his constituents. Dumbfounded that he was getting such an adversarial question on Fox News, Lee went into a word salad answer about how it’s lawmakers’ jobs to look out for the specific rights of people and to put opinion polling into legislative text. Indeed Lee should be doing that then by supporting the rights of people not to live a society where people have easy accessibility to guns and by reflecting the will of the people to have common sense gun safety measures.
